“We are excited to invest in Sauk Rapids and Waite Park. Focusing on ways to support and invest in communities has resulted in steady growth and the ability to give back for over 96 years,” said Steve Swiontek, Executive Chair and Chair of the Board at Gate City Bank.

Founded in 1923 and headquartered in Fargo, ND, Gate City Bank is a mutual bank with 710 team members. With the expansion, the Bank will have 40 locations in 21 communities across North Dakota and central Minnesota. The Bank is committed to providing a better way of life to customers, communities and team members.

“We are passionate about making a difference every single day. We accomplish this by providing innovative products and services, listening to our customers and engaging with our communities,” said Kevin Hanson, President & CEO of Gate City Bank. “We look forward to providing a better way of life throughout Sauk Rapids and Waite Park.”

In 2018, the Bank donated more than $2.2 million in charitable giving and team members dedicated over 14,000 hours to volunteerism. The Bank encourages volunteering on company time and matches team member gifts to nonprofits, dollar-for-dollar. “Our success is driven by our commitment to a culture of philanthropic giving and being an employer of choice,” said Swiontek.

Gate City Bank has been named one of the “50 Best Places to Work” for six years in a row by Prairie Business magazine and was named “Best Bank in North Dakota” by Forbes magazine in 2019. The Bank provides excellent paying jobs with unique benefits, including fully paid maternity, paternity, adoption, caregiver and military leave as part of its award-winning culture.

Gate City Bank’s products and services are designed to save customers time and money. In July of 2019, the Bank celebrated saving customers more than $10 million in student loan interest as part of the BetterLife Student Loan Program, the first and only program of its kind. The number one mortgage lender in North Dakota, the Bank provides locally approved, financed and serviced home loans with the option to close on a home in just 10 days.

The new locations are part of the Bank’s growing partnership with Coborn’s Inc., parent company of Cash Wise Foods, Coborn’s and Hornbacher’s grocery stores. Gate City Bank started the partnership with Hornbacher’s 14 years ago to deliver greater convenience with offices inside grocery stores.

“We are excited to partner with Gate City Bank in our grocery stores. Their focus on customer service, banking and community involvement align well with our core values in serving our local, home community,” said Dennis Host, Vice President of Marketing for Coborn’s, Inc. “Providing grocery shopping, pharmacies and banking services in these locations allows us to better serve our guests with a much more convenient, one-stop experience,” Host added.
