[Girl 1] I'm Mia and I'm seven years old.

[Boy 1] Bodee and I am five and a half.

[Girl 2] Hi, I'm Madi and I'm eight.

[Boy 2] I'm Shawn and I'm five.

[Boy 3] My name is Archer and I'm nine.

[Girl 3] My name's Ellie and I'm six years old.

[Girl 3] Well, I want to be a pediatrician.

[Girl 2] Umm, I kind of want to be a vet, but to start off and get used to it, I want to work at the Wags doggy daycare place.

[Boy 1] A police officer.

[Boy 3] I wanna be a football player.

[Girl 1] A teacher.

[Boy 2] Umm, a plane driver, and I also want to be umm a train driver and I wanna be a car driver...and I also want...umm, to be a football player and I wanna be a superhero.

[Boy 3] You can volunteer for...ah...hospital. A children's hospital. And then you can donate money.

[Girl 2] I would probably work hard to make money so then I could help...umm...the animal shelters and the homeless shelters. Because then...umm...we would have more people that are healthy and we would also save a bunch of people.

[Girl 1] I would probably make...umm..teach them about our presidents...maybe, and teach them how to read. I think that would be kind of nice to them.

[Boy 2] I want to be a pilot because... umm...I want to be a fireman pilot. Where those shooters come out and then it sprays out water.

[Director] (laughter off-camera) Is that your little brother?

[Girl 3] He's annoying.

[Girl 3] Well...give people some more. I'll give people some because I don't want to leave the hospital. I need to take care of the babies.

[Boy 3] Umm...I would probably buy cars and stuff for them. So they can get places where they want to go. Mexico...Orlando, Florida...but you'd have to be on a highway and that would take like a long time.

[Boy 1] Buy homes...buy food...

[Director] For yourself?

[Boy 1] No, for other people.

[Girl 2] I could raise money for the scientists and doctors to come up with a cure for a bunch of like viruses and stuff and sicknesses. 

[Girl 1] I would put some books in...more books in...in the library and maybe get some more stuff for the classroom.

[Steve Swiontek] We hope our young pioneers have inspired you as much as they did us. We invite you to take a moment to think about the difference you make in your community for a better way of life.

Nita>> We are here today to install 1,000 smoke
alarms in the greater Bismarck Mandan
community so the goal of sound the
alarm is the general awareness raising
both for residents to know and be
reminded constantly because we come
become complacent about feeling safe in
our home and yet every day seven people
in the United States lose their lives to
home fires

Rosejean>> The Red Cross came here and
checked ours and did the replacements I
just want to say thank you we now have
everything up to date and have that
opportunity to make sure that there's
not going to be something devastating
that is going to be the outcome so the
service that's being provided I think is
wonderful for the neighborhood and the
city of Bismarck for that matter

Robert>> The biggest thing is one people need to be
notified so they can get out of the home
get out of the residence
that's that's the whole goal of having
smoke alarms so not only do we make sure
they had them we made sure that they
weren't too outdated make sure they were
working and then we did it took the
opportunity to have some education for
some folks about exit plans and exit
drills and what to do to get out

Brent>> Our project is built around the idea
that we don't care what your reasons are
for not making to the dentists that can
be one of many reasons but our goal is
to take care of humanitarian relief of
pain and that's our mission and has been
for the last 17 years

Marsha>> The history of Red
River Valley dental access it started
with local dentists coming together
knowing the need of the community and
how many people needed to be served and
weren't getting served so they decided
to start up a little urgent care clinic
and it's been growing ever since

Brent>> Where do folks go that don't have a
dental home and for care that having a
problem and the logical place in many
cases is the emergency room at hospital
so we thought about how can we find a
location partner place where we can have
a clinic where we can get volunteer
dentists connected with those folks who
don't usually see the dentist

Matt>> I was just amazed at the
need being so close to
home I didn't realize that that kind of
need was out there and so it really opened
my eyes to what we could do

Jenn>> we see a lot of people with broken off teeth
like at the gum line and they don't know
what else to do we will remove the teeth
that are hurting them and then we try
and help them get referred to somewhere
that does do dentures and help them out
so Gate city's involvement with Red
River Valley dental access project helps
us to keep the cost lower to the
patients helps us keep the clinic
running

Marsha>> We're very grateful that Gate
City Bank could step up and help the
community keep this clinic alive

Jenn>> We owe Gate City
so much for what they've done and to
help the patients keep the cost down
because for a lot of patients thirty
dollars is a lot and we're not here to
make money but we're here to help [music fades]

Marcia>> Isn't it a beautiful morning for hunger relief?
YES!

Any day is when we come together and make amazing things happen, and that is exactly what is happening today. Our organizations have a shared vision, and that is to ensure all North Dakotans have access to nutritious food on any given day to feed themselves and their families. And our friends at Gate City Bank answered the call, uh with a recent gift of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. YES! [clapping]

And this morning, we're unveiling a design on this new trailer that highlights this incredible partnership.

Karin>>> My name is Karin Rudd with Gate City Bank today we're at the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theater to talk about this new amazing program.
[Music]
Rachell can you tell me a little bit about how this program began.
Rachell>>> Early last spring I was asked to do a presentation the first of many and all of these arts professionals came together and want to make Arts in the community accessible for everybody who has different needs.
Adam>>> So sensory friendly programming are theatrical performances that are adapted specifically for the needs of children on the autism spectrum.
Lucas>>> I always see one of the central jobs as an actor is to put your audience at ease so that they can just sit back relax and enjoy the show. For this performance you just have to take a couple extra steps to ensure that the audience is coming in ready to relax and enjoy your production and so before the production we would come out on stage and say hi my name is Lucas I am NOT a scary character if I appear as I say I'm the big bad wolf in a production. I would come out and introduce myself as Lucas before introducing them to a character that might otherwise cause some apprehension during the production.
Karin>>> Adam can you tell me a little bit about the safe spaces?
Adam>>> Sure a safe space will be a spot that that families can kinda slip out of the performance if things become a little too overwhelming there are activities that will be there to kind of calm and soothe and when when families and children and adults are ready to come back into the performance that's an option as well.
Lucas>>> We firmly believe that theatre is for everybody and we want everyone in the community to be able to come to our theater and enjoy a production with the entire family.
Eloise>>> Well it really opens up the doors to more people it's been very interesting learning from families who have autistic children that sometimes they're not able to go to things and by coming here we're trying to create a very safe environment for them so it's really opening those doors to possibly a part of the community who would not normally come to the theater.
Dayna>>> The value to the arts is that they transcend culture and language and age and ability and socioeconomic status and all those pieces everyone who sits in an in a seat in an audience or everyone who stands on a stage is the same at the end of the day and they're all experiencing the emotional connection that we have to art.
Lucas>>> And so with these performances we just want to sort of remove the stigma around coming to a performance that they don't have to feel like they're going to be interrupting or disruptive to the performance because that's really a built-in component of what this program is all about.
Adam>>> We're here to be able to provide an opportunity for their families and and these these children and adults to come and see these these performances in a safe environment.
Rachell>>> There are choices there are ways that we can help your child or family member be successful and I think by just offering the performance is a message to the community saying you're welcome here.
Karin>>> Thank You Rachael for joining us today.
